چکیده

The Infrared Sea surface temperature Autonomous Radiometer (ISAR) was specifically developed for the validation of satellite SSTskin temperature data products, in particular for the Advanced Along Track Scanning Radiometer (AATSR). Two ISAR instruments have, since March 2004, been deployed on a continuous (one on, one off) basis on the P&O ferry M/V Pride of Bibao, which sails between Portsmouth (UK) and Bilbao (Spain) on a 3day repeat cycle. A number of ancillary measurements, such as wind speed, short wave radiation, long wave radiation, air temperature and humidity are recorded. In presenting the validation results since 2004, we shall discuss the error budget associated with match-ups from a moving platform. A novel quality indicator will be specified, using both ancillary and satellite data. This is proposed as a robust and objective way for specifying the quality of each match-up, which is necessary in order to refine the quality assessment of the data products for AATSR.

Surface Temperature Estimation from Aatsr Data

A series of dual-angle and split-window algorithms is presented for estimating sea (SST) and land surface temperature (LST) from the Advanced Along-Track Scanning Radiometer (AATSR). The numerical values of the coefficients have been obtained from statistical regression method using synthetic data. The algorithms have been tested with simulated and real AATSR data. Comprehensive sensitivity and...

The Accuracy of Sst Retrievals from Aatsr : Synthesis and Integration of Comparisons to Buoys and Radiometers

The Advanced Along-Track Scanning Radiometer (AATSR), launched on ENVISAT in March 2002, is the third in a series of instrument designed to make precise and accurate global Sea Surface Temperature (SST) estimations. At the time of the ENVISAT Symposium 2007, geophysical validation indicates that the AATSR 1 km and 10' spatially averaged D3 SSTs are generally in specification, in that AATSR 1 km...

Global Validation of the (a)atsr Meteo Product Sea-surface Temperature

Validation has been performed on the Advanced-Along Track Scanning Radiometer (AATSR) Sea Surface Temperature (SST) Meteo product data at the Met Office on a daily basis. Meteo product skin SSTs have been compared with point measurements of buoy SST, and a 1-degree climate SST analysis field compiled from in situ measurements and Advanced Very High Resolution Radiometer SSTs. These validation r...

The Aatsr Land Surface Temperature (lst) Product: Comparison with Lsts from Seviri

The Advanced Along-Track Scanning Radiometer (AATSR) onboard ESA’s Envisat Satellite, is the third in a series of precision radiometers designed to measure Sea Surface Temperature (SST). Since March 2004, an operational Land Surface Temperature (LST) product has also been available, which is the first of its kind since the (A)ATSR mission began in 1991. This product utilises a nadir-only split-...

Evaluation of the Envisat-aatsr Land Surface Temperature Algorithm with Ground Measurements in the Valencia Test Site

RESUME In this work we describe the validation of the land surface temperature (LST) product derived from the Advanced Along-Track Scanning Radiometer (AATSR). A test site was established in a large, flat and homogeneous area of rice crops close to Valencia, Spain. Coincidentally to the Envisat morning overpasses, radiometric temperatures were measured along transects covering the area of one A...
